Dredging permits may be had from the Corps of Engineers. They will tell you that you do not need one for the size dredges we normally use. Up to 4 inch intake is covered under a general recreational gold dredge permit. They will tell you to not block any navigable channels. You should call them and every government agency that might have authority over the area you want to search. I thought I had every area covered when I got my hand slapped. I did not count on a local gun shop owner contacting the Department of Conservation.

Just stay away from high profile historical sites and as far as I can tell....you are fine. If not you may find yourself stacking bricks at Fort Morgan... ;)
