Hi Bruce. Pull tabs share the same conductivity as higher karat gold rings. Lower karat rings can almost be found anywhere on the screen, depending on what alloys/metal they were mixed with. Silver rings tend to be found closer to the penny-dime range. If you tune out pennies, you also can lose some rings. The best technique to learn is to learn to dig targets quickly, with out scratching them. Then, if you aren't sure about a given target, dig it anyways. It doesn't cost you anything. Some of the best hunters practically did everything that gives a stable BEEP.
