I can finally tell all I know about the F70...

Howdy all...

I have been involved with the final testing of the new Fisher F70 detector. In fact I was the last to sign off on it and just returned the F70 today. I have had a fantastic time working with this new detector and the great folks at Fisher Labs. I made Fisher promise that I could be one of the first in line to purchase one..it is that good....
The first thing I want to say is that this detector is NOT an F75. It kinda looks like an F75 but that is as far as it goes. This is a totally new electronic set up.
I used the F70 on several locations. It performed above and beyond my expectations. It does not have the different modes as does the F75. It has a discrimination mode and the autotune or all metal mode.
I found it to be very good in depth in the discrimination mode.
The unique feature about this detector is that you can change the speed of the signal..!!!
Hmmmm...now why would you want to do that? Think about this. The F75 is very very good in trashy areas due to its fast recovery speed. But what if you could adjust that speed? These measurements are in milliseconds so don't think about adjusting the speed as something that is noticeable or that you can detect with your ear.. It has only been a short while that the chips have been developed that could make use of these faster signal speeds.
Now try to follow me....If you slow the signal down slightly you allow the eddy currents to build up on your target just that tiny bit longer. Stronger eddy currents on the target means that you can "see" the target just a little bit deeper.
So you now have a detector that is very good in trash but it also has a feature that will make it a depth demon in a clearer area.
The F70 has 7 different frequency setting that are much further apart than what you would normally be used to. If you change the frequency on any other detector that has that feature...it is still in ground balance right?. Not the F70..!! Each frequency requires a new ground balance. So if you are on F1 frequency and it is chattering because someone else is nearby on the same frequency you would switch it up to F2. I found that if the ground balance was at 60 in the F1 position that it would then ground balance at 62 in the F2 position. And so on up to F7 with the ground balance rising by two points as you went up the scale.
Now is that something you would like? I did. I like knowing that I am way off frequency from another detector if they are crosstalking. Sometimes you will lose a LOT of depth when you are near another detector and you never hear the crosstalk. With the F70 you get way away from another frequency when you make a change.

So now we have a new detector to decide if we need to buy it or not.

As Tim said in a post below the F70 is going to sell in the $649.00 range. If you already have an F75....this detector would make a great back up. Same coils work for both.

If the price of the F75 has held you back from stepping up...then maybe this might be the detector you will need to look at.

Ya'll please ask me any questions you want and I will try to answer them. We are the only forum that has this information and I am the only person outside the factory that has seen the final version of this detector. It will be on dealers shelves the first week in April.

So would yo say that the F70 is on par with the Cibola
