Getting the boat ready....

Howdy all....

A lot of my water hunting is searching very old river boat landings. So a boat is the only way to go. No need to have to ask permission to cross someones land when you can just pull up to the shoreline. In most states a property owner only owns to the high tide mark. That means he can't stop you from metal detecting in the water in front of his property. Rarely do I ever have problems with searching the water in front of someones property. Usually they are just curious about what you are doing.

So very soon I will be in the water up to my neck trying to scoop up some good relics. One of the finds that I always enjoy at these sites is old bottles. So how do you find old bottles with a metal detector? You don't...but it does get you in the area where all the trash was tossed overboard. You can usually feel the old bottle with your feet. As opposed to the mud or sand bottom the bottle will feel like..well it will feel like a bottle.. ;) I try to scoop it up with my scoop. Sometimes they are new bottles but on occasion I have found some fantastic glass... I will post up some great examples of old glass I have found wading with a detector... soon..

I will also give you an awesome tip on how to find all the old landings you will ever want to search..stay tuned

Ronnie
